State Policed Seek Public's Help to ID Suspect in Armed Robbery

On 07/22/2021 at approximately 1907 hours, Troopers responded to the Best Way Sunoco gas station located at 1 Saybrook Road, Essex CT for the report of an armed robbery. A black male entered the gas station at approximately 1900 hours. The black male is described as an adult male possibly in his 50’s, approximately 5’3” tall, 170 pounds, clean shaven with a bald head. He was wearing a white tee shirt, denim jean shorts, white sneakers with blue tips. The male is wearing a blue surgical mask and what appears to be a yellow micro fiber type towel on his head. The male enters the store and subsequently brandishes a handgun and demanded money from the store’s cash register. The suspect stole an unknown amount of cash from the register before exiting the gas station. The male is seen exiting the parking lot in what appears to be a dark colored possibly black 1998 – 2002 Honda Accord, 4 door sedan.
