On 10/21/2026 at approximately 3:04 a.m., a Trooper was conducting proactive laser speed enforcement on I-395 Northbound, north of Exit 2 in Waterford.

From their position in the median, the Trooper observed a vehicle traveling northbound on I-395 at an apparent high rate of speed. Utilizing a laser device, the Trooper determined that the approaching vehicle was traveling at approximately 116 MPH in a posted 65 MPH zone. Based upon these observations, a traffic stop was initiated using emergency lights and siren. In response, the accused vehicle, identified as a Toyota Sienna, came to a stop within the right shoulder of the roadway.

The operator was positively identified as Mohammad S. Mamun, DOB 03/12/1984, of Jackson Heights, New York.

Based upon the Trooper’s observations, Mamun was placed under arrest without incident. One of the vehicle’s four passengers was permitted to drive the Toyota Sienna from the scene.

Mamun was then transported to Troop E, where he was processed and charged with the following violation:

C.G.S. 14-222, Reckless Driving

Following arrest processing, Mamun was released on a $500.00, 7% cash bond and is scheduled for arraignment at New London Superior Court, on 11/04/2026.
