Update- Franklin Commercial Fire

The Connecticut State Police Fire & Explosives Investigation Unit (FEIU) is actively assisting the local fire marshal with a fire investigation at The Plant Group Inc, 117 Pond Rd Franklin, CT. The DEEP Emergency Response Unit also responded to conduct air and water sampling. Fertilizer, peet, pesticides, ammonia, PFAS, and other toxins were involved in the fire and resulting smoke. A shelter in place order issued for the surrounding area has been lifted.


The Franklin Fire Department was dispatched to a tree and wires burning on Pond Road during the early morning hours on Monday, 06/24. While monitoring the wire fire, fire personnel observed an orange glow in the area and located a structure burning on the property of 117 Pond Rd. The discovering firefighters observed the fire involved the electrical components servicing the warehouse. This fire also resulted in lengthy road closures, which have also since cleared. The origin and cause of the fire remains under investigation by FEIU and the Franklin Fire Marshal's Office, however there is no suspected criminal aspect at this time.
