UPDATE - 01/01/2023 Homicide on Route 15 in Hamden

On Sunday, January 1, 2023, at approximately 2:23 a.m., Troopers assigned to Troop I in Bethany responded to a report of individuals in a vehicle who had sustained gunshot wounds, on Route 15 southbound in the area of Exit 60, in the town of Hamden.
Upon arrival Troopers located an individual in the driver’s seat of the vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. Three additional vehicle occupants were transported by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital. The Central District Major Crime Squad (CDMC) responded to assume the investigation.
Investigators have been advised that Qualon Wilkes (DOB: 6/23/2000), was pronounced deceased on January 5, 2023, at the hospital. Next of Kin has been notified.
The investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.
