Preliminary information indicates that on 10/20/2023, at approximately 4:49 p.m., Prospect Police responded to a report of a suspicious incident at an address on Merriman Lane in Prospect, Connecticut.
Shortly after arriving at the address, investigators made contact with an individual. A Prospect Officer at the scene discharged their duty weapon at the individual, causing injury. No other persons in the surrounding area were injured.
EMS responded to the address and the individual was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
There is no ongoing threat to the public.
This is an ongoing investigation led by the Office of the Inspector General, assisted by the Waterbury State’s Attorney, detectives from the Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad and Troop I.
