On 07/14/24, personnel from Troop D and the Killingly Police responded to a criminal mischief complaint at Holy Cross Cemetery on Maple St in Killingly. A witness observed someone causing damage to multiple grave sites in the cemetery and directed responding Officers & Troopers to the accused, who was still within the cemetery. The accused, who was identified as a juvenile, was arrested following an on-scene investigation. The accused's guardian was later contacted to take custody of the accused after processing at Troop D. The accused was processed on the following charges:
CGS 53a-108; Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree
CGS 53a-115; Criminal Mischief 1st Degree
CGS 53a-125b; Larceny 6th Degree
CGS 53a-181; Breach of Peace 2nd Degree
CGS 53a-218; Interference w/Cemetery
The accused was issued a juvenile summons and is scheduled for arraignment at Willimantic Juvenile Court. At the time the accused was taken into custody, it was determined that the accused was wearing a piece of jewelry which was taken from an unknown grave site. The Killingly Police are seeking to identify the owner, or family of the owner, so that this property may be returned.
