East Hartford Man Arrested for Reckless Driving; Engaging in Pursuit After Attempted Traffic Stop on I-384 in East Hartford

On Saturday, 04/26/25 at approximately 12:09 AM, a Trooper assigned to Troop H- Hartford was patrolling I-84 eastbound in East Hartford. It was at this time that the Trooper observed a white Infiniti sedan failing to maintain its lane and continued to follow the vehicle off of exit 56 to I-384 eastbound. The Trooper observed that the vehicle was continuing to drift from its lane, crossing from exit 1 back to the right lane of I-384 eastbound.

Based upon these observations, the Trooper activated their emergency lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop. The operator of the Infiniti subsequently refused to comply and began to accelerate, reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph. Having obtained the vehicle's registration and observing it come back to the observed vehicle, the Trooper disengaged from the pursuit and shut down their emergency lights and siren.

The Trooper conducted a follow-up investigation immediately thereafter at the vehicle's registered address in East Hartford. The Trooper observed the vehicle in the driveway upon arrival, which was still warm to the touch. The Trooper then made contact with Eric Resto (DOB 10/24/2003) at the residence. Resto admitted to operating the Infiniti earlier on I-384 and explained that he ran because he was scared and did not know why the Trooper was following him and attempting to stop him.

Resto was arrested without incident at approximately 12:25 AM and transported to Troop H, where he was processed on the following charges:

CGS 14-222; Reckless Driving

CGS 14-223(a); Disobeying Signal of an Officer

CGS 14-223(b)**; Engaging Police in a Pursuit

CGS 14-236; Failure to Maintain Proper Lane- Limited Access Highway

CGS 53a-167a; Interfering with an Officer/Resisting

Resto was later released from custody on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on 05/16/25. Please see the attached video & criminal information summary.
