Bethel Man Arrested for Sexual Assault Following Investigation in New Fairfield

On May 21, 2025, at approximately 3:45 PM, Christopher Fernandes (DOB 10/31/1998) of Bethel, turned himself into Troop A - Southbury, on an active warrant. The arrest warrant stemmed from an investigation by the Western District Major Crime Squad for a sexual assault that occurred in January 2025 in the Town of New Fairfield.

Fernandes was arrested and processed on the following charges:

C.G.S. 53a-71 - Sexual Assault in the Second Degree

C.G.S. 53a-73a - Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree

C.G.S. 53a-90 - Use of a Computer to Entice a Minor to Engage in Sexual Activity

C.G.S. 53a-196j(b)(3)(4) - Harmful Communication with a Minor

C.G.S. 53-21 - Risk of Injury to a Minor

Fernandes was held on a court set $350,000 bond and was scheduled to appear at Danbury Superior Court on 05/22/2025.
