Bridge Collision Affecting Travel on I-91 Northbound in Enfield

On Thursday, 10/10/24 at approximately 9:12 AM, personnel from Troop H- Hartford were dispatched to I-91 northbound prior to exit 47W in Enfield for a commercial vehicle vs. bridge accident. On scene investigation determined that a Kenworth T800 truck with a crane mounted to it was traveling on I-91 northbound when it struck the Route 190 bridge overpass. Minor injuries have been reported.

A large metal sign affixed to the bridge was taken down by the crane boom. The metal and concrete bridge supports sustained functional damage and are being inspected by DOT engineers on scene.

The right 3 of 4 lanes are closed, and traffic is moving the left lane. The Exit 47W off-ramp is open at present. The scene remains active at this time; case #2400385354.
