Troopers Investigate a Homicide in Somers

Preliminary reports indicate that on 08/18/2026, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Troopers assigned to Troop C in Tolland responded to a report of a suspicious incident on South Road in Somers. Upon arrival, Troopers located one individual with apparent gunshot wounds, who was subsequently pronounced deceased. A second individual was located at the scene and has been detained for the purposes of the investigation. There is no ongoing threat to the public. The Eastern District Major Crime Squad has responded to the scene. This investigation is still in its early stages and remains active, fluid and ongoing.
