On 10/13/2026, at approximately 6:17 p.m., a Trooper assigned to Troop C in Tolland was conducting proactive patrol in the area of Route 44 and Bonemill Road in Mansfield. The posted speed limit in this area is 30 MPH.

While observing traffic in the area, the Trooper observed a white Nissan Sentra, displaying a Rhode Island registration plate, traveling eastbound on Route 44 at a high rate of speed.

Using a radar unit, the Trooper determined that the Nissan was traveling at speeds of approximately 95 MPH. Based upon this information, the Trooper entered into the roadway and activated his assigned cruiser’s emergency lights and siren in an effort to initiate a motor vehicle stop.

Once stopped, the operator of the accused vehicle was positively identified as Ivan McKenzie, DOB 09/24/2007, of Mansfield. An adult passenger was also within the accused vehicle.

As a result of this investigation, McKenzie was taken into custody and transported to Troop C, where he was processed and charged with the following violations:

C.G.S. 14-222, Reckless Driving

C.G.S. 53a-64, Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree

The accused was later released on a $1,500 non-surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Rockville Superior Court on 10/27/2026.
