Killingworth Woman Charged With OUI, Reckless Driving, Following Motor Vehicle Stop in Old Saybrook
On 11/02/2026, at approximately 4:34 p.m., A Trooper assigned to Troop F in Westbrook was patrolling the area of Route 9 southbound in the area of Exit 2, in Old Saybrook. While traveling in the left lane, the Trooper observed a dark colored Acura TLX, traveling immediately behind his cruiser, at an unsafe distance. As this was occurring, the Trooper noted that the Acura was traveling so closely to the rear of his cruiser that the Acura’s headlamps were not visible. While further monitoring the operation of the Acura, the Trooper observed that it was failing to maintain its established lane. At this time, the Trooper also determined that the Acura was traveling at speeds of approximately 80 MPH, prior to it reaching speeds of approximately 102 MPH as it maneuvered into the right lane and accelerated past the Trooper’s cruiser.
Based upon these observations, the Trooper activated their cruiser’s emergency lights and siren and initiated a motor vehicle stop in the area of I-95 southbound in the area of Exit 68.
Upon speaking with the operator of the Acura, identified as Kristine Kriksciun, DOB 08/20/1968, of Killingworth, the Trooper observed Kriksciun to be exhibiting signs of possible impairment. In plain view, the Trooper observed containers consistent in appearance with alcoholic beverages within the vehicle's passenger compartment.
During the investigation that followed, Krisksciun was asked and agreed to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Initial tests were not performed to standard and testing was ultimately discontinued in the interest of safety.
Kriksciun was then taken into custody and transported to Troop F in Westbrook, where she was processed and charged with the following violations:
C.G.S. 14-227a, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs
C.G.S. 14-222, Reckless Driving
Kriksciun was later released from custody on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Middletown Superior Court, on 11/16/2026.
