Hebron Woman Taken into Custody After Engaging in Pursuit on Route 2

On Saturday, 03/18/2023, at approximately 5:35 p.m., Troop K was notified by Troop H of an erratically operated Jeep Wrangler, displaying a Connecticut registration plate, traveling on Route 2 eastbound, in the area of Exit 11 in Glastonbury. The Jeep was the subject of several 911 calls and had been described by callers as a danger to motorists.

A short time later, Trooper Martinez #1236 located a vehicle matching the description provided traveling on Route 2 eastbound in the area of Exit 23 in Bozrah and attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop. The Jeep failed to stop and its operator engaged the trooper in a pursuit. The pursuit continued eastbound on Route 2 and onto I-395 southbound in Norwich for a distance of approximately five miles. The pursuit was then terminated in the interest of safety.

Approximately 10 minutes after the pursuit was terminated Mohegan Tribal Police contacted Troop E – Montville, notifying them of a License Plate Reader (LPR) hit on the registration displayed by the pursued vehicle at the Mohegan Sun Casino in the Riverview Garage. Responding troopers and Tribal Police located the Jeep and its operator, identified as Lori Lanagan (DOB: 11/03/1975), of Hebron. During interactions with troopers, Lanagan exhibited signs of possible impairment, was uncooperative throughout the investigation and physically resisted being taken into custody. Shortly after arriving at Troop K for arrest processing, Lanagan requested medical assistance and she was subsequently transported to Marlborough Medical Center. While at the hospital, Lanagan refused to cooperate with troopers’ efforts to complete her arrest processing and she was charged with the following violations:

C.G.S. 53a-167a: Interfering with Police C.G.S. 14-240: Following Too Closely

C.G.S. 14-101: Failure to use Turn Signal
