Connecticut State Police Captain Darrell Tetreault was one of 265 law enforcement officers to graduate today from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.

The 299th session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from 44 states and the District of Columbia. The class also included 29 international members of law enforcement agencies from 28 countries, five military organizations, and four federal civilian organizations. A total of 57,461 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy since it began in 1935.

Captain Tetreault began his career with the Connecticut State in 2010 when he entered the Training Academy as a member of the 121st Training Troop. He first served as a Patrol Trooper at Troop G in Bridgeport and Troop K in Colchester, and later as Resident Trooper in the towns of Westbrook, Andover, and Hebron. Once promoted to Sergeant, he was assigned to Troop C in Tolland and later the Colchester Resident Trooper Office. Upon promotion to Lieutenant, he served as Commanding Officer of Troop E in Montville and afterward in the Internal Affairs Unit.

As Captain, he served as Commanding Officer of the CSP Eastern District and is currently Commanding Officer of the CSP Western District. Captain Tetreault received an agency Lifesaving Award during his career and currently serves as president of the NP-9 Commissioned Officers Association.
