On 08/26/2026, at approximately 8:43 a.m., a Trooper traveling southbound on Route 8, prior to Exit 34, in Watertown, observed a motorcycle approaching their cruiser at an apparent high rate of speed. The motorcycle operator then continued past the trooper and was observed weaving in and out of traffic, utilizing both lanes as well as the right shoulder as it continued traveling southbound.
Recognizing that the motorcycle’s high rate of speed posed a substantial risk to its operator as well as others traveling in the area, the Trooper continued monitoring the operation of the motorcycle from a distance in the interest of safety. While doing so, the Trooper observed the motorcycle exiting Route 8 via the Exit 34 off-ramp.
Upon exiting Route 8, the Trooper observed the motorcycle and accused operator stopped in traffic on Frost Bridge Road (Route 262). At this time, the Trooper approached the motorcycle operator and took them into custody based upon the reckless operation observed. During the course of the investigation, the motorcycle operator was positively identified as Allan V. Vega, DOB 10/02/1974, of Harwinton, and explained that he was traveling to his place of employment and was running late.
Vega was subsequently transported to Troop L in Litchfield, where he was processed and charged with the following violations:
C.G.S. 14-18(c), Violation Readable Plate Req.
C.G.S. 14-222, Reckless Driving
C.G.S. 14-298b(b)(1), Improper Passing Within Lane/Motorcycle
C.G.S. 14-298b(b)(2), Operating Motorcycle Between Lanes
Vega was later released from custody on a $1,000.00 non-surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Waterbury Superior Court, on 09/09/2026.
