Hamden Man Arrested for Witness Tampering; Threatening 2nd Degree Following Investigation at New Haven Correctional Center

On Saturday, 05/24/25 at approximately 4:45 PM, personnel from Troop I- Bethany responded to Manson Youth Institution in Cheshire to serve an active arrest warrant on Claymont Arrington (DOB 10/02/2006), of Hamden. The warrant for Arrington's arrest stemmed from an investigation which began on May 20th after Department of Correction personnel at New Haven CC contacted State Police upon the discovery of Arrington attempting to arrange a "hit" on an individual pertaining to his current incarceration. DOC personnel reported this was done over a recorded phone line, and Arrington was identified as the suspect based upon the use of his unique personal identification number (PIN) issued to him for making phone calls from the prison.
Arrington was processed on the following charges pursuant to the arrest warrant:
CGS 53a-151*; Tampering with a Witness
CGS 53a-181; Breach of Peace 2nd Degree
CGS 53a-62(a(1; Threatening 2nd Degree- Physical Threat
Arrington was issued a $500,000 court-set bond for this arrest and was returned to DOC custody post-processing. Arrington is scheduled to appear at New Haven Superior Court on 05/27/25. Please see the attached arrest warrant & criminal information summary.
