Preliminary reports indicate that on 08/18/2026, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Troopers assigned to Troop C in Tolland responded to a report of a suspicious incident on South Road in Somers. Upon arrival, Troopers located one individual with apparent gunshot wounds, who was subsequently pronounced deceased. On August 8, 2026, at approximately 1:51 p.m., Troopers assigned to Troop C in Tolland responded to Baxter Road to assist EMS with a medical call. While on scene, Troopers were approached by an individual later identified as Kurt Hoss, DOB 09/08/1967, of Tolland, who arrived driving a blue Mazda SUV equipped with visible red and blue flashing lights.
