Update - Investigation of Suspicious Deaths in Oxford Vehicle Fire

On 05/30/2024, at approximately 4:10 a.m., Troop A in Southbury was advised of a vehicle fire on Roosevelt Drive (Route 34) in Oxford. The local fire department was also dispatched. Upon arrival on scene, a vehicle was found fully engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished by fire personnel, at which point it was discovered that there were two deceased persons within the vehicle. Based upon these findings, members of the Western District Major Crime squad responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) was notified and responded to the scene. The two decedents were subsequently transported to OCME for further examination.


Western District Major Crime Detectives, working in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, have positively identified the victims of the vehicle fire as:

 

David J. Rivera, DOB 07/21/1987

of Hartford, Connecticut

 

Carlos O. Calderon, DOB 12/11/1984

of Hartford, Connecticut


Next of Kin have been notified.

 

The investigation remains active and ongoing and this all of the information available for release at this time.
