Troopers Seek Witnesses to Collison Involving Evading Vehicle on Route 5/15 Northbound in Hartford

On 09/28/2026, at approximately 7:33 a.m., Troop H - Hartford was advised of a collision on Route 5/15 Northbound in the area of Exit # 87, in Hartford. EMS and the local Fire Department were also dispatched. Minor injuries were reported. Based upon information obtained and observations made during the initial investigation, Troopers determined the following:

Vehicle 1 (School Bus), Vehicle 2 (Toyota Camry) and Vehicle 3 (Evading Vehicle) were traveling on Route 5/15 northbound, prior to Exit 87, in the City of Hartford. Vehicle 1 was traveling in the right lane of two, Vehicle 2 was traveling in the left lane of two and it was unknown at the time precisely where Vehicle 3 was traveling.

Vehicle 3 for unknown reasons struck Vehicle 2 in a sideswipe manner. Due to the impact, Vehicle 2 struck Vehicle 1 in a sideswipe manner, causing Vehicle 3 to strike the guardrail adjacent to the right shoulder. Minor injuries were reported by occupants of Vehicle 1. However, all parties declined transportation to the hospital.

Vehicle 3 evaded the scene in an unknown direction, and was described as a silver sedan. Operator 2 was issued an infraction for of C.G.S. 14-36(a), Operating a Motor Vehicle without a Driver's License. Vehicle 1 was driven from the scene and Vehicle 2 was towed from the scene due to disabling damage.
