Troopers Investigate Homicide in Westbrook
On 10/28/2026 at approximately 1725 hours, Troop F personnel responded to a residence in Westbrook for the report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, troopers located John Bongiovanni (DOB: 12/05/1988) outside of the residence. Further investigation revealed two victims within the residence, both with apparent gunshot wounds. Victim #1 was pronounced deceased on scene and Victim #2 was transported to Hartford Hospital where they remain in critical condition. As a result of the initial investigation, Bongiovanni was placed under
arrest and charged with violating C.G.S. 53a-54a Murder and C.G.S. 53a-49/53a-54a Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder. Bongiovanni was held on a $3,000,000 cash/surety bond and is due to appear in GA-9 Middletown Superior Court on 10/29/2026 at 0900 hours.
This incident remains under further investigation.
