Troopers, Detectives Investigate Stolen Vehicle on I-84 Eastbound Exit Ramp in Waterbury

On Wednesday, 08/23/2023, at approximately 4:53 a.m., Troop A in Southbury responded to a report of an unoccupied, disabled motor vehicle in the left shoulder of the I-84 eastbound Exit 23 off ramp in Waterbury.


Upon arrival, Troopers located a stolen motor vehicle with visible bullet hole damage to the rear of the vehicle. Evidence observed at the scene indicated that someone had sustained an injury.


During a check of area hospitals, investigators learned that a 14-year-old juvenile male had recently been admitted for a gunshot wound and was in critical condition.


State Police Western District Major Crime Detectives from Troop A in Southbury and the crime van were requested to respond and have assumed the investigation.


The juvenile victim’s condition has been upgraded to stable.
