On August 28, 2026, State Police conducted a traffic stop on I‑91 North in New Haven and handled the situation with strong professionalism and attention to safety. After observing a large knife in plain view, Troopers safely detained the occupants and conducted a thorough investigation, locating a loaded firearm in the vehicle. The driver, Julio Cintron, was taken into custody without incident and charged with multiple weapons and motor‑vehicle violations.
This incident reflects the State Police’s continued commitment to proactive enforcement and community safety, ensuring dangerous weapons are removed from our roadways. Cintron was held on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on August 31, 2026.
