In the early morning hours of December 25, 2025, Troopers assigned to Troop H in Hartford assisted the Rocky Hill Police Department in locating and stopping a black Ford Edge after a Rocky Hill Officer was dragged during an attempted traffic stop.
Troopers took positions along Interstate 91, and at approximately 2:24 a.m. a Trooper observed the vehicle enter I-91/Route 5-15 south from Exit 27 in Hartford. When emergency lights and sirens were activated, the vehicle fled at speeds exceeding 100 mph, leading police through multiple exits and briefly onto surface streets before repeatedly re-entering I-91. The driver at one point turned off the vehicle’s headlights, traveled erratically across multiple lanes, and appeared to deliberately steer toward pursuing police cruisers. Stop sticks were eventually deployed, disabling a tire, but the vehicle continued northbound until slowing on the Exit 28 ramp, where Troopers executed a controlled maneuver to box the vehicle in. During the stop, the suspect intentionally struck a state police cruiser, causing disabling damage, before being fully contained and taken into custody without further incident.
The driver was identified as Tyshawn Jermiane Adams (DOB: 9/25/1979) who was found to have an active warrant for violation of probation. A search of Adams person and the vehicle revealed large quantities of fentanyl, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug manufacturing and packaging materials, indicating narcotics distribution. Adams showed clear signs of impairment, admitted to using multiple drugs prior to driving, and stated he believed Police would stop pursuing him once he exceeded 100 mph.
Adams was charged with multiple criminal and motor vehicle offenses, held on a $100,000 bond, and transported to Hartford Correctional Center pending arraignment at Hartford Superior Court on 12/26/25.
