On Monday, 06/02/25, at approximately 7:00 PM, personnel from Troop H- Hartford responded to a reported two-car accident on I-91 south in the area of exit 20 in Middletown. It was reported that one of the vehicles involved in the collision had gone through the guardrail along the right shoulder and down an embankment.
Upon arrival on scene, Troopers made contact with the involved parties and determined that no injuries were reported. The operator of the vehicle which had gone through the guardrail was positively identified as Evan Aldrich (DOB 05/25/2007), of Middletown. Witnesses on scene reported that Aldrich was traveling at an extremely high rate of speed prior to the accident, appearing to be in excess of 100 mph. On-scene investigation in addition to witness accounts determined that Aldrich was weaving in and out of the travel lanes to pass other traffic, and the accident occurred when Aldrich veered into another vehicle. This collision caused Aldrich's vehicle to spin out, ultimately traveling through the guardrail and down an embankment. Aldrich's vehicle was towed, and CT DOT responded for emergency guardrail repair.
Aldrich was arrested without incident and transported to Troop H, where he was processed on the following charges:
CGS 14-101; Failure to Use Turn Signal
CGS 14-213; Failure to Carry Operator's License
CGS 14-222; Reckless Driving
CGS 14-232(a)(1); Improper Passing/Unsafe Distance/Cutting In
CGS 14-236; Failure to Maintain Proper Lane- Limited Access Highway
CGS 53a-64; Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree
Aldrich was later released from custody on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 07/07/25. Please see the attached criminal information summary.
