Manchester Man Arrested for Reckless Driving; Reckless Endangerment After Fleeing Traffic Stop on I-91 in Rocky Hill

On Wednesday, 07/16/25 at approximately 10:34 AM, a Trooper assigned to Troop H- Hartford was patrolling I-91 southbound near exit 24 in Rocky Hill. It was at this time that the Trooper observed a grey Toyota Corolla sedan traveling at a rate of speed higher than the flow of traffic in the right lane of four. The Trooper accelerated to match the vehicle's speed and observed that the operator was traveling at 118 mph in a posted 65 mph zone.

The Trooper activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. The operator refused to comply and continued to accelerate, weaving in and out of heavy traffic. Due to the safety hazard posed to others on the highway, the vehicle was not pursued. The Trooper obtained the vehicle's registration plate prior to disengaging, and it was learned that the registration matched the observed vehicle.

A follow-up investigation was later conducted at the registered owner's address in Manchester, at which point it was learned from a family member that Nicholas Rodrigue (DOB 04/12/2007), of Manchester, was operating the vehicle at the time of the incident. Contact was made with Rodrigue by phone, and he was requested to return to his residence. Rodrigue complied and returned to the residence to speak with Troopers and was arrested without incident.

Rodrigue was transported to Troop H, where he was processed on the following charges:

CGS 14-222; Reckless Driving

CGS 14-223(a); Disobeying Signal of an Officer

CGS 14-236; Failure to Maintain Proper Lane- Limited Access Highway

CGS 53a-167a; Interfering with an Officer/Resisting

CGS 53a-63; Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree

Further follow-up investigation led to a witness, who was on the phone with Rodrigue when the investigating Trooper first attempted to stop him. The witness reporting hearing the police siren in the background and further reported they had urged Rodrigue to pull over. The witness further relayed to Troopers that Rodrigue refused to do so.

Rodrigue was later released from custody on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at New Britain Superior Court on 08/01/25. Please see the attached criminal information summary.
