State Police are investigating a hit and run accident that left a 14 year old female critically injured. Troop F received a 911 call on Thursday at approximately 10:38pm reporting an injured person lying on the side of the roadway on Route 81/Killingworth Road in Haddam near the area of #283. Upon arrival, Troopers discovered that a fourteen (14) year old juvenile victim had been riding her bicycle northbound on Route 81/Killingworth Road, when she was struck from behind by an unidentified motor vehicle that evaded the scene of the accident. The suspect vehicle then possibly continued north on Route 81/Killingworth Road. Based upon evidence at the scene, it is believed that the suspect vehicle is a 2006-2012 Hyundai Santa Fe either gray or silver in color. The suspect vehicle should have right front headlight damage as well as right front quarter panel and wheel well damage. The investigation remains active.
