Fire Causes Catastrophic Damage to East Haddam Residence

From the East Haddam Fire Marshal's Office and CSP FEIU.

On 11/12/2021, at approximately 2:37 AM hours, the East Haddam Fire Department responded to 123 Falls Road, in the Moodus section of East Haddam, to a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, fire department personnel encountered heavy fire coming from the 2-story, 2-family residence. Mutual aid fire departments from Colchester, East Hampton, Chester, Haddam, Marlborough, and Lyme responded to the scene and worked to extinguish the fire, which was deemed under control at approximately 4:00 AM. The structure sustained catastrophic damage and is uninhabitable. No injuries were reported. Personnel from the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester also responded to the scene to assist the fire department. During the course of the fire, they located the sole occupant of the residence, who resided on the second floor. He was located outside the residence; having managed to escape uninjured. The origin and cause of the fire is being investigated by the East Haddam Fire Marshal’s office with assistance from the Connecticut State Police Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit.
