Durham Man Arrested After Investigation into Reckless Driving in Durham Posted on Social Media

On May 7, 2025, Troopers from the Durham Resident Troopers Office were made aware of a social media account posting videos and reels consisting of vehicles driving at high rates of speed in rural areas. Further investigation revealed that the account was controlled by Giovanni Petruzziello (D.O.B. 01/23/1998) of Durham.

Investigation into the social media account showed Petruzziello operating various vehicles in the Towns of Durham, Haddam, and Killingworth, with speeds ranging between 78 mph to 137 mph. Videos posted showed Petruzziello having a passenger within the vehicle while he was operating different vehicles in a reckless manner.

An arrest warrant application was subsequently submitted and later approved by Middletown Superior Court. On May 19, 2025, Petruzziello was located during a traffic stop and taken into custody. Petruzziello was transported to Troop F for processing where he was charged with the following:

C.G.S. 14-222 - Reckless Driving (7 Counts)

C.G.S. 53a-63 - Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree (3 Counts)

Petruzziello was later released on a court set $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 06/05/2025.
