On Thursday, 05/01/25, at approximately 12:38 PM, personnel from Troop D - Danielson responded to the Hometown Bank located at 835 Riverside Drive in the town of Thompson for a reported panic hold up alarm. Upon arrival, it was learned that an armed robbery had occurred. Multiple Troopers and K9 teams responded to search for the suspect, and information was later developed that the suspect reportedly fled the area prior to police arrival.
The suspect was described as a light-skinned male in his 30’s, approximately 5’10" tall and average build, medium brown eyes, wearing a black face covering, a black Columbia zip-up style sweatshirt with lime green zipper, black fingerless gloves, black pants and black shoes. The suspect displayed a black handgun and demanded money from a bank employee. The suspect then left the bank with $3,250.00 on foot and entered a smaller black SUV, possibly a Ford Edge with Massachusetts plates that was parked at the Town Hall building. The vehicle was last seen traveling north on Route 12 towards Massachusetts.
The Eastern District Major Crimes Squad has assumed this investigation. Anyone with information pertaining to the identity of the suspect, or information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Timothy Benjamin #491 at Troop D - Danielson, 860-779-4922 or by email at timothy.benjamin@ct.gov.
