On Monday, 10/14/2024 at approximately 10:46 AM, Troop H in Hartford was contacted by Hammonasset Construction who reported that multiple construction/work vehicles parked I-84 Westbound in the area of exit 39A in Farmington, had sustained severe damage sometime during the weekend hours. Upon Troopers arrival, they observed several unoccupied commercial motor vehicles heavily damaged by fire and several other vehicles vandalized within a secluded construction yard off the highway. Eleven vehicles in total were damaged. Hammonasset Construction estimates the total loss to be approximately $1,000,000.
It is believed that any fire from this event would have been visible from I-84 Eastbound and Westbound in that area, the I-84 Westbound exit 39A off-ramp, and/or the Route 9 exit 40A ramp connector to I-84.
