CT Transit bus fire investigated by CSP Fire and Explosive Investigation Unit

On 07/23/2022 at approximately 0732 hours, the Hamden Fire Department responded to the CT Transit New Haven Operations and Maintenance Facility located at 2061 State Street in Hamden, for a fire involving a CT Transit Electric Bus. The bus, which was parked outside of the building, was completely destroyed. There was no damage to any other vehicles or the maintenance facility. Two employees suffered smoke inhalation, and two Hamden firefighters suffered heat exhaustion as a result. All were transported to local hospitals where they were treated and released. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Connecticut State Police Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit. There is no criminal aspect.
