Bridgeport Man Charged With Credit Card Fraud Following Investigation in Tolland
On 10/26/2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Troop C – Tolland received a complaint from a Tolland resident regarding fraudulent use of a credit card.
At approximately 8:41 p.m., Troopers met with the complainant, who explained that while reviewing their financial records, they discovered one of their credit cards had been used without their knowledge. The complainant then then showed Troopers a charge for more than $700.00, payable to a national airline, as well as a second charge to a separate business for more than $200.00.
The complainant further indicated that they had also received flight confirmation information in their email account, identifying a flight from Hartford to San Juan, Puerto Rico, scheduled to depart that same evening, at 9:37 p.m. Passenger details associated with the airline ticket included the name “Vera Jainnier Abniel Ramos.” The complainant explained to investigators that they did not know anyone by that name and that they were the only authorized user on the credit card account.
Prior to Troopers’ arrival at the complainant’s residence, the complainant had contacted Bradley International Airport and advised State Police assigned to the airport of the fraudulent purchase of the airline ticket.
Based upon that information, Troopers assigned to Troop H at Bradley International Airport initiated efforts to identify and locate the accused individual. Upon learning that the flight associated with the purchased airline ticket would be leaving from a specific gate, airline staff was advised and instructed to alert Troopers posted nearby when the ticket in question was presented for boarding.
As an adult male attempted to board the flight using the identified ticket, staff alerted Troopers and the male suspect was escorted away from the boarding line. While speaking with the male, identified as Jainnier Ramos, DOB 08/27/2008, of Bridgeport, Ramos’ initially explained that a family member had purchased the ticket for him. When Troopers advised Ramos that they intended to speak with the family member directly, Ramos indicated that a third party had purchased the ticket at the request of his family member.
Based upon the information obtained and observations made during the course of the investigation, Ramos was taken into custody and subsequently transferred to the custody of Troop C.
Upon arrival at Troop C, Ramos was processed and charged with the following violations of Connecticut statutes:
C.G.S. 53a-128c, Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card
C.G.S. 53a-125b, Larceny in the 6th Degree
Ramos was issued a $25,000 cash-surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Rockville Superior Court on 11/09/2026.
