On Tuesday, 10/22/24, an outage impacting statewide telephone services was discovered. The issue was identified to be affecting the ability of customers to complete calls to certain state operated networks as well as 911 emergency lines. The carriers have worked to diagnose and resolve the issue, and networks across the state are reporting full operational capacity at this time.
As a reminder, we ask the general public not to call/text 911 simply as a test to see if the system is functional. If you have a true emergency and you are not able to connect via 911, it is always a recommended practice to store your local State Police Troop's routine telephone number in your contacts as a backup. We will provide the routine lines for each CSP Troop below as an additional resource.
Timely communication is crucial to ensure public safety and prevent undue system strain. The outages appear to have been technical in nature at this time and not the result of any form of malicious cyber-based outage. Any additional updates will be provided as further information becomes available through the Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) X page, CT Emergency Management & Homeland Security (@CTDEMHS) / X
