On January 22, 2025, at approximately 3:10 PM, Troopers from Troop L - Litchfield, and Woodbury Police were dispatched to a report of a male slumped over the wheel of a vehicle at the intersection of Joshua Hill Road and Tuttle Road in the Town of Woodbury. The vehicle was stopped at a stop sign, not moving, and causing a traffic hazard for other motorists.
Upon arrival, Troopers and Officers located an unresponsive male in the driver seat of a black Honda Ridgeline. Additionally, an infant was located in the rear passenger seat. The infant was later determined to be six months old. The passenger side front window was breached in order to gain access into the vehicle and contact was made with the operator who was later identified as Jason Perillo (DOB 10/10/1978) of Woodbury.
Through an on-scene investigation, Perillo was found to be in possession of narcotic paraphernalia and was showing signs of impairment. Based on these observations, Perillo was requested to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he did not perform to standard. Perillo was placed under arrest, and the child was returned to their legal guardian after being evaluated by EMS. The Department of Children and Families were contacted in regard to this incident.
Once at Troop L, Perillo was processed on the following charges:
C.G.S 14-227m(c)(1) - Operation of a motor vehicle with a child passenger while under the influence of alcohol/drugs
C.G.S 21a-267(a) - Possession of drug paraphernalia
C.G.S 53-21 - Risk of injury to a minor
Perillo was released on a $7,500 bond and is scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on 02/14/2024.
