Writer: csp.piocsp.pio

On March 5, 2025, at approximately 6:29 AM, Troopers from Troop G - Bridgeport responded to I-95 south, prior to exit 43, for the report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. Multiple callers reported to Emergency Dispatchers that a male wearing a gray sweatshirt, and gray pants exited one vehicle and began running away from the scene.

These callers also explained that the male exited the vehicle from the driver's seat, and the vehicle had been traveling erratically at speeds in excess of 100 mph prior to the collision. Minor injuries were reported to the occupant of the other vehicle, who was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

An on-scene investigation revealed the operator that fled the scene was Matthew Perez (DOB 03/25/2003). Troopers met with Perez at his residence, where he admitted to being involved in the accident and leaving the scene.

Perez was arrested without incident, and it was learned that he did not possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle. Perez was transported to Troop G for processing, and charged with the following violations:

C.G.S. 14-224(b)(3) - Evading Responsibility

C.G.S. 14-222 - Reckless Driving

C.G.S. 14-36(a) - Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License

C.G.S. 53-182 - Reckless Use of Highway by a Pedestrian.

Perez was later released on a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Milford Superior Court on 04/01/2025.
