Vehicle Clocked at 132 MPH; Driver Facing Multiple Charges in Colchester

On Monday, November 28, 2022, at approximately 10:28 AM, Troopers conducting speed enforcement on Route 2 in the area of Exit 17, in the Town of Colchester, obtained a speed reading of 132 MPH on a 2014 Range Rover traveling in a posted 65 MPH zone. After activating their vehicle's emergency lights and siren to signal the vehicle, the vehicle exited the highway at Exit 17, where it narrowly avoided striking a CT DOT worker who was working in the Exit 17 / Mill Hill Road intersection area. Before losing visual contact with the vehicle, troopers also observed the operator of the Range Rover passing vehicles in “No Passing” zones in the area of Old Hartford Road.

Troopers checked the surrounding area and discovered the Range Rover parked in a garage inside a business located on Old Colchester Road. Troopers located the vehicle operator, who admitted to parking inside the business in an attempt to elude State Police, despite being directed to leave the business by employees. The vehicle operator, identified as Faizal Fasasi, DOB 05/27/1999, of Manchester, CT, was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop K where he was processed and charged with the following:
