Troopers Interrupt Domestic Violence Incident on Highway
On 12/19/2021, at approximately 12:05 PM, Troop H - Hartford began to receive 911 phone calls from the public reporting the erratic operation of a vehicle, traveling westbound on I-84, in the area of exit 62, in Manchester. Troopers responded and stopped this vehicle on Rt. 5/15 southbound, prior to exit 87, in Hartford. Investigation revealed that a domestic violence incident had occurred inside of the vehicle, as the victim was driving. The front passenger, Enrique Sosa (DOB: 06/26/01) of 98 Kayevue Dr, Hamden, allegedly placed a BB gun to the operator’s head while making verbal threats. Sosa was also accused of holding a large knife against the victim’s right wrist while they were operating the vehicle. Sosa was further accused of grabbing the steering wheel and threatening to crash the vehicle. The victim sustained a minor injury. As a result of the on-scene investigation, Sosa was placed under arrest and transported to Troop H, where he was processed on multiple felony charges.
Sosa was charged with the following:
C.G.S. 29-38 Illegal Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle
C.G.S. 53-206 Carrying A Dangerous Weapon
C.G.S. 53a-182 Disorderly Conduct
C.G.S. 53a-60 Assault in the Second Degree
C.G.S. 53a-61aa Threatening in the First Degree
C.G.S. 53a-63 Reckless Endangerment First Degree
C.G.S. 53a-95 Unlawful Restraint First Degree
Sosa was held on a $250,000 bond and was scheduled to appear at GA #12, Manchester Superior Court, on 12/20/2021.
Thanks to the quick thinking of members of the public who reported the erratic movement of the vehicle to 911, State Police were able to interrupt this incident and minimize the risk of serious injury to the victim as well as other members of the public. As always, the Connecticut State Police encourage members of the public to report erratic drivers and other suspicious incidents to police as soon as it is safe to do so.
