On Saturday, August 6, 2022, at approximately 2:27 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to 411 Norwich-Westerly Road, in the Town of North Stonington, for a report of a disturbance involving a firearm. The complainant alleged that three males had entered and taken items from one or more vehicles parked on the property. When approached by the complainant, one of the males allegedly displayed a firearm in a threatening manner. The three males then left the area in a vehicle described as a white Jeep Wrangler.

A responding Trooper observed a Jeep matching the description provided, traveling on Norwich-Westerly Road and attempted to stop the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle failed to stop and engaged Troopers in a pursuit.

Area police departments were advised of the pursuit and the Montville and Ledyard Police Departments provided assistance. A Montville Officer successfully deployed Stop Sticks in the area of RT 2A and RT 12, in Preston. The Jeep continued to travel a short distance before coming to a stop in the area of the Norwich State Hospital property.

Two of the three vehicle occupants fled on foot but were quickly apprehended by responding Troopers and Montville Officers. A firearm with an obliterated serial number was recovered at the scene. All three of the males were transported to Troop E for processing.
