State Trooper Dragged by Vehicle Fleeing Reported Disturbance in Ellington

On Sunday, 07/17/2022, at approximately 4:20 AM, Troop C in Tolland received a 9-1-1 call, reporting a disturbance at a residence on Cindy Road, in the Town of Ellington. An individual, later identified as Veronica Allen (DOB: 03/29/1996), of 96 Clinic Drive Apt #101, New Britain, allegedly traveled to the residence and was smashing windows out of several vehicles in the driveway, using a tire iron. Troopers responded and encountered Allen, who did not comply with verbal directives given by Troopers and fled the scene, driving a black Honda Civic. As Allen drove away from the scene, a Trooper was struck by the open passenger side door of the Honda, pushed to the ground, and dragged a short distance. Allen then backed the Honda into a Trooper's patrol vehicle, causing minor damage to the driver side, before leaving the area at a high rate of speed. The Trooper was transported to Johnson Memorial Hospital by ambulance, treated for minor injuries, and released.

The vehicle operated by Allen was later located parked across the street from Allen’s residence in New Britain. With the assistance of Troop H and New Britain Police, Allen was taken into custody at her residence and transported to Troop H, in Hartford, where she was processed and charged with the following:
