State Police Arrest Man for Reckless Driving Incident on I-84 in Union

On Sunday, 7/10/2022, at approximately 3:15 PM, Connecticut State Police Troop C dispatch was advised that the Massachusetts State Police had attempted to stop a grey Nissan Altima, displaying Connecticut registration, in the town of Charlton, Massachusetts. The Nissan had allegedly been involved a motor vehicle accident with reported injuries and had fled from the scene.

During the investigation, it was learned that the registration plate provided by MSP was actively registered to a 2019 Nissan Altima, and its registered owner, Ean Nosal (DOB 02/05/1998), of Meriden, CT.

Troop C dispatch was advised that Massachusetts State Troopers had located and attempted to stop the vehicle a second time, on I-84 west in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, but discontinued their efforts at the state line.

At approximately 3:40 PM, a Connecticut Trooper observed a gray Nissan Altima, with visible front end damage, traveling on I-84 westbound, in the area of Exit 71. The Nissan was observed in the left lane of three, traveling at an extremely high rate of speed. After passing the Connecticut State Police cruiser, the Nissan was observed traveling in the left shoulder to pass traffic at a high rate of speed. The Trooper merged into traffic and attempted stop the Nissan, using lights and siren. The Trooper clocked the Nissan’s speed at approximately 110 mph and noted that the Nissan was continuing to gain distance and operating erratically. Upon approaching Exit 70, the Trooper de-activated their emergency lights and siren and advised Troop C that efforts to stop the vehicle had been discontinued.

A short time later, Troopers observed the Nissan traveling westbound on I-84, between Exit 69 and 68. Troopers confirmed that the Nissan was displaying the same registration plate provided by Massachusetts State Police and again attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The Nissan again failed to stop and Troopers discontinued their efforts to stop the Nissan, which continued traveling westbound on I-84.

After checking Ean Nosal’s last known address in Meriden, without finding the vehicle or Nosal, Troopers were able to locate the Nissan Altima, parked at the residence of a family member, in the town of Burlington. The family member indicated that Nosal had parked the vehicle there earlier in the evening and had since returned to Meriden.

Troopers applied for and were granted a warrant for Ean Nosal’s arrest, by the Rockville Superior Court. On 08/26/2022, at approximately 2:12 PM, after learning of the active warrant for his arrest, turned himself in at Troop C, in Tolland, where he was taken into custody and charged with the following:

C.G.S. 53a-64 Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree,

C.G.S. 14-223(b)* Engaging In Pursuit

C.G.S. 14-222* Reckless Driving - Speed over 85 mph.

Nosal was processed in accordance with State Police policy and released from custody on a $7,500 cash-surety bond. Nosal is scheduled to appear at Rockville Superior Court, on 09/07/2022 at 9:00 AM.
