Shelton Man Carrying Loaded Firearm Through Security Arrested at Bradley International Airport

On Friday, September 27th at approximately 10:43 AM, personnel from Troop H at Bradley International Airport were contacted by TSA Agents regarding a passenger traveling through the terminal security checkpoint who was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun.


Upon Troopers' arrival on scene, the passenger was positively identified as Joseph Salemme (DOB 10/30/64) of Shelton. Salemme was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun in his carry-on baggage. Salemme explained to Troopers that he did not realize that the firearm was in his baggage.


Salemme was arrested on site without incident and transported to Troop H- Bradley for processing. Salemme was charged with violation CGS 15-69; Circumventing Airport Security. Salemme was later released from custody on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear at Hartford Superior Court on 10/11/24. The firearm and ammunition located in Salemme's possession were seized as evidence. Please see the attached criminal information summary.
