Routine Traffic Stop Turns into Moving Moment for Trooper, Veteran

While conducting traffic enforcement on Interstate 84 on Sunday, September 11, Trooper Kaelberer witnessed a vehicle stop and activate its’ hazard lights on the shoulder of the exit 68 off-ramp in Tolland. Trooper Kaelberer stopped to assist the motorist and discovered that the male driver was in emotional distress and talking to a counselor on a suicide prevention hotline. The Trooper reassured this U.S. Army veteran while engaging in conversation and providing a hug when asked. The Trooper then helped the veteran receive medical care.
