Plainfield Man Arrested for DUI Under 21; Possession of Facsimile Firearm in Killingly

On Saturday, 11/09/24 at approximately 7:16 AM, Killingly Police and Troop D personnel responded to Upper Maple St in Killingly for a vehicle reportedly blocking the roadway with the operator passed out at the wheel.

Upon arrival, a Killingly Police Officer observed the vehicle to be a maroon Kia Optima sedan. The Officer observed that the vehicle was parked in the roadway and that the vehicle was running. As the Officer approached, they observed that the operator was asleep and that there was a firearm on the front passenger seat within the operator's reach. In the interest of their safety, the Officer opened the passenger side door and removed the firearm prior to attempting to wake the operator.

With the firearm removed from the operator's reach, the Officer attempted to wake the operator by calling out to him. While doing so, the Officer observed alcoholic containers in plain view within the vehicle. Upon waking the operator, the Officer positively identified him as Jared Jordan (DOB 01/31/2006), of Plainfield by his CT operator's license. The Officer asked Jordan about the firearm he had on his front seat, to which Jordan explained that it was not a real firearm. Further investigation determined that it was in fact a facsimile firearm and was loaded with two (2) live blank cartridges. The facsimile firearm and blank ammunition was seized as evidence in this investigation. While speaking with Jordan, the Officer observed that Jordan was displaying signs of impairment. Standardized Field Sobriety testing was later administered, to which Jordan only performed the walk and turn portion of testing to standard.

Jordan was arrested without incident and transported to Troop D, where he was processed on the following charges:

CGS 14-227a: Illegal Operation of a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs

CGS 30-89(b)(1); Possession of Alcohol by Minor on Public Street/Highway

CGS 53-206c(c); Illegal Use of Facsimile Firearm

Jordan was later released from custody on a $1500 bond and is scheduled to appear at Danielson Superior Court on 11/21/24. Please see the attached criminal information summary.
