Missing Person Located During Suspicious Vehicle Investigation in Westbrook
On August 13, 2022, at approximately 6:03 AM, Troopers assigned to Troop F in Westbrook responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle, at a residence on Boston Post Road, in the town of Westbrook. Responding Troopers were advised that the operator of a blue minivan had exited the vehicle and was reported to be leaving the area. The minivan, a Chrysler Pacifica, was observed to be partially obstructing the roadway, when troopers arrived and stopped the male as he was attempting to flee from the scene on foot. The male was detained and positively identified as Peter Meehan (DOB 09/09/1995), of West Suffield, CT, who had been reported missing from the town of Westbrook earlier that same morning. During the investigation, Troopers learned that the blue Chrysler had been taken from a nearby business.
As a result of this investigation, Meehan was placed under arrest and transported to Troop F. During arrest processing, Troopers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Meehan. As a result, Standardized Field Sobriety tests were administered, which Meehan did not perform to standard. As a result, Meehan was charged with the following:
C.G.S. 53a-122 Larceny in the 1st Degree
C.G.S. 14-227a – Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs
Meehan was released on a $1000.00 cash/surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on August 26, 2022, at 9:00 AM.
