Marlborough Man Arrested for Larceny Following Investigation into Ambulance Association

On October 28, 2024, Troopers from Troop K – Colchester were notified that a member of the Roy B. Pettengill Ambulance Association (RBPAA), had been submitting fraudulent invoices for ambulance equipment. In speaking with the complainant, it was learned that Mark Merritt (DOB 05/09/1964) of Marlborough, was submitting fraudulent invoices, and was then being reimbursed by the Ambulance Association for purchases that were never made. Based on the severity of the complaint, the Eastern District Major Crimes Squad took over the investigation.


The investigation revealed that between 2020 and 2025, Merritt submitted twenty-two (22) fraudulent invoices and had been reimbursed by the RBPAA for $43,133.00.


On March 12, 2025, at approximately 1700 hours, Detectives located Merritt, and he was arrested without incident. Merritt was transported to Troop K for processing where he was charged with the following:


C.G.S. 53a-122 - Larceny in the First Degree


C.G.S. 53a-140 - Forgery in the Third Degree (22 Counts)


Merritt was released after posting a court set $70,000 bond awaiting a court date of 03/28/2025 at Manchester Superior Court.
