Manchester Man Clocked at 105 MPH on I-84 in Farmington Arrested for Reckless Driving; Outstanding Warrant

Writer: csp.piocsp.pio

On Saturday, 03/08/25, at approximately 11:00 PM, a Trooper assigned to Troop H- Hartford observed a Mazda 3 sedan traveling on I-84 westbound in West Hartford at a high rate of speed, using all lanes to cut through traffic. The Trooper caught up with the observed vehicle and initiated a forward clock by speedometer, at which time speeds reaching and exceeding 105 mph in a posted 65 mph zone were observed.

Based upon these observations, the Trooper activated their emergency lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop. The operator complied and pulled over to the right shoulder near exit 37. Once safely stopped, the Trooper made contact with the operator, who was positively identified as Collin Demo (DOB 05/07/2003), of Manchester. Upon asking Demo why he was driving so fast, Demo explained that another operator had "flipped him off" in traffic and that he knew he was doing more than 100 mph.

Upon running Demo's CT license, it was observed that he had an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear. Demo was arrested without incident and transported to Troop H, where he was processed on the following charges:

CGS 14-222; Reckless Driving

CGS 14-232(a)(1); Improper Passing/Safe Distance/Cutting in

CGS 14-236; Failure to Maintain Proper Lane- Limited Access Highway

CGS 53a-173; Failure to Appear 2nd Degree

Demo was issued a $1,000 bond for the motor vehicle charges and is scheduled to appear at Hartford Superior Court on 03/21/25. Demo was unable to post the $10,000 court-set bond for the Failure to Appear charge and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on 03/10/25. Please see the attached criminal information summaries.
