On March 12, 2025, at approximately 9:45 PM, Troopers from Troop F - Westbrook were conducting motor vehicle enforcement on Durham Rd in the Town of Madison. At this time, the Trooper observed a vehicle black dodge dart traveling at a high rate of speed. The Trooper then clocked the vehicle and observed it was driving 100 mph in a posted 45 mph zone.
A traffic stop was initiated, and the operator was identified as Derek Nowak (DOB 11/18/2000) of Madison. Upon making contact with Nowak, the Trooper observed that he was also not wearing his seatbelt while operating the vehicle. Nowak was instructed out the vehicle which he complied and was immediately placed under arrest.
Nowak was transported to Troop F for processing where he was charged with the following:
C.G.S. 14-222 - Reckless Driving
C.G.S. 14-100a(c)(1) - Failure to Wear Seat Belt
Nowak was later released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at New Haven Superior Court on 03/28/2025.
