K9 Boss Locates Three Juveniles After Crashing a Stolen Vehicle in Killingly

On Saturday, March 8, 2025, at approximately 1:27 PM, Troopers from Troop D – Danielson responded to a report of a two-car collision at the intersection of Main Street and Westcott Road in Killingly. It was reported that one vehicle, a gray Subaru Crosstrek, had fled the scene of the crash.


Upon arriving, Troopers spoke with a witness who stated that prior to the collision, they observed the Subaru passing other vehicles in an unsafe manner, nearly causing several accidents.


As the investigation progressed, it was discovered that the Subaru had been reported stolen earlier that day from a residence in Killingly.


Following the two-vehicle collision at Main and Westcott, it was reported that the Subaru had crashed into a tree near 1071 Hartford Pike in Killingly. Three individuals were seen fleeing the vehicle and running into a nearby wooded area. A witness provided Troopers with a physical description of each individual.


K9 Boss and his handler responded to the scene and conducted a search. K9 Boss tracked the suspects for approximately 500 yards through the woods before the three individuals were located and detained by another responding Trooper. All three were identified as juveniles who were not cooperative with the investigation.


The juvenile operating the Subaru was issued a juvenile summons for the following violations:


C.G.S. 14-36(a) - Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License

C.G.S. 14-224 - Evading Responsibility

C.G.S. 14-232b - Unsafe Passing

C.G.S. 14-240 - Following Too Close


Separately, all three juveniles were each issued a juvenile summons for the following violations:


C.G.S. 14-224(b)(3) - Evading Responsibility w/ Property Damage

C.G.S. 53a-123 - Larceny 2nd Degree

C.G.S. 53a-116 - Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree

C.G.S. 53a-167a - Interfering with an Officer


One of the juveniles was also charged with drug-related offenses.


All three juveniles were released to custody of their parents. One juvenile is scheduled to appear at Willimantic Juvenile Court, while the two are scheduled to appear at Waterford Juvenile Court.
