Enfield Man Faces Multiple Charges After Eluding Troopers on I-91
On 03/21/2023, while conducting traffic enforcement operations on I-91 northbound in the Windsor Locks area, a Trooper assigned to the Traffic Services Unit Aggressive Driving Team observed a dark colored Dodge Challenger operating erratically and aggressively. The Challenger was clocked with a speed measuring device at 132 mph while passing other traffic. As the Trooper attempted to catch up to the Challenger, it accelerated and began passing vehicles using both shoulders of the highway, becoming increasingly dangerous to other motorists as it traveled at speeds of approximately 140 mph. In the interest of safety, the Trooper terminated efforts to catch up to the Challenger and exited the highway at the Exit 46 off ramp in Enfield. While traveling on the exit ramp, the Trooper observed that the same Dodge Challenger had also exited Exit 46 and was located at the bottom of the ramp. The Trooper then activated his emergency lights and siren and attempted a motor vehicle stop. In response, the Challenger abruptly accelerated and entered I-91 southbound, again traveling in an erratic and reckless manner, at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The Trooper again terminated efforts to stop the Challenger based upon the risk to public safety.
During the course of the investigation that followed, the identity of the Challenger’s operator was discovered. A warrant for the arrest of the accused operator was applied for at the Hartford Superior Court and was granted on 04/21/2023.
On 04/24/2023, the accused operator, positively identified as Trent Logan (DOB: 11/29/1999), of Enfield, was stopped by the East Windsor Police Department, while operating the same Dodge Challenger. Based upon the active arrest warrant held by CT State Police, Logan was taken into custody.
Troopers responded, assumed custody of Logan and transported him to Troop H in Hartford, where he was processed and charged with the following:
C.G.S. 53a-63, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree
C.G.S. 53a-167, Interfering with an Officer
C.G.S. 14-222, Reckless Driving
C.G.S. 14-223(b), Failure to Obey Signal of Officer/Engage in Pursuit
Logan was held on a court-set $75,000.00 bond and transported to the Hartford Correctional Center pending his arraignment at Hartford Superior Court, on 04/25/2023.
