Writer: csp.piocsp.pio

On Saturday, 03/08/25, at approximately 8:00 AM, personnel assigned to Troop C-Tolland were conducting motor vehicle enforcement on I-84 eastbound near exit 71 in Willington. It was at this time that a Trooper observed an Infiniti Q50 traveling at a rate of speed which was clearly higher than the posted speed limit of 65 mph and began to conduct a speedometer clock on the Infiniti. The Trooper observed the vehicle's speed ranging from 100-121 mph, and the Trooper activated their emergency lights and siren to attempt a traffic stop.

Upon doing so, the operator of the Infiniti stopped on the left side of the roadway near exit 72, partially obstructing the left lane. The Trooper instructed the operator to move to the right shoulder, to which the operator complied. Once safely stopped in the right shoulder, the operator was positively identified as Hameson Exantus (DOB 04/28/85), of Brooklyn, NY. Upon asking Exantus why he was driving so fast, Exantus explained that he did not realize he was driving that fast. Exantus was arrested without incident and transported to Troop C, where he was processed on the following charges:

CGS 14-222; Reckless Driving

CGS 14-283(e); Failure to Stop on the Right Side of the Roadway

Exantus was later released from custody on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear at Danielson Superior Court on 03/19/25. Please see the attached criminal information summary.
